Enterprise customers can now choose from multiple sample rates for more control over audio quality, performance, and file size – optimized for your needs.
What is a Sample Rate?
A sample rate determines how often sound is measured per second during rendering or playback. Higher sample rates result in better audio quality and larger file sizes.
Here’s a quick breakdown:
| Sample Rate | Best For | File Size | Audio Quality |
| 24 kHz - Lightweight and efficient for low-bandwidth use. | Voice notes, support tools, basic TTS | Small | Good |
| 48 kHz - Balanced and standard for most media and platforms. Available with Enterprise subscriptions. | Video playback, web apps, production workflows | Medium | Excellent |
| 96 kHz - Highest-quality output for professional-grade audio. Available with Enterprise subscriptions. | High-end production, audio voiceovers, archives | Large | Exceptional |
How to Create Audio with Different Sample Rates
- Create a new project, and choose Caruso.
- Go to your project settings.
- Then choose your preferred Sample Rate.
Note: Sections that have already been rendered will stay in their original sample rate. To update them, you’ll need to re-generate those sections in your preferred sample rate.
Choosing the Right Sample Rate
- 24 kHz: Ideal for quick production or low-bandwidth workflows.
- 48 kHz: The best all-around choice — solid balance of quality and file size.
- 96 kHz: For pristine, professional-grade audio (available to Enterprise users only).
Note: 96 kHz clips can be downloaded in any format, but compression in MP3 or OGG will reduce quality. To preserve the high quality of your 96 kHz clips, download them as .WAV files.

FAQs
Q: Are multiple sample rates available in the Standard version of Studio?
A: Multiple sample rates are available for all Voices in Caruso only
Q: Can I render by sentence or paragraph when using different sample rates?
A: Yes! Multiple sample rates are available with all rendering options in Caruso.
Q: Can I render different takes in the same project at different sample rates?
A: No, the sample rate is selected at the project level. To use a different rate, change the setting in your project settings and re-render any sections at that sample rate.
Q: Does the sample rate affect downloading Closed Captioning files?
A: No, file type is independent from the sample rate, so downloading of various file types (SRT, VTT, WAV, OGG, MP3, TXT) will not be impacted.
Q: I want access to higher sample rate options, but don't want to upgrade. Is there an option to add this to my subscription?
A: Multiple sample rates are only available for Enterprise accounts at this time. Contact your Customer Success Team to learn more about upgrading your subscription.
