Choose a higher sample rate for better audio quality, or a lower one to keep file sizes down.
A sample rate determines how often audio is measured per second during rendering and playback. Higher sample rates produce better audio quality but larger file sizes. Studio lets you set a sample rate at the project level, so you can match your output to how the audio will be used.
Before you get started
- Multiple sample rates are only available for Caruso voices. Standard and Partner voices always render at 24 kHz.
- 48 kHz is available on Pro, Business, and Enterprise plans. 96 kHz is Enterprise only. Free and Starter plans are capped at 24 kHz.

Setting a sample rate
- Create a new project and select WellSaid Studio.
- Open Project Settings.
- Choose your preferred Sample Rate.
- Enter your script.
- To render at 48 kHz or 96 kHz, select a voice with the Caruso option in the style/model dropdown.
A section keeps its original sample rate once it's rendered. To change it, re-generate that section at your preferred rate.
If you're rendering at 96 kHz, download it as a .WAV file — MP3 and OGG compression reduce audio quality, even though those formats are still available.

Q: Are multiple sample rates available for Standard model Voices?
A: No. Standard and Partner voices always render at 24 kHz.
Q: Can I render different takes in the same project at different sample rates?
A: Yes. Sample rate is set at the project level, but you can still render audio at your preferred rate when using a Caruso voice. Standard and Partner models will always render at 24 kHz.
Q: Does the sample rate affect downloading Closed Captioning files?
A: No. Sample rate and file type are independent — downloading captions (SRT, VTT, TXT) or audio (WAV, OGG, MP3) isn't affected.
Q: I want a higher sample rate without upgrading. Is that possible?
A: 48 kHz is available on Pro, Business, and Enterprise plans; 96 kHz is Enterprise only. Contact your Customer Success team about upgrading.
