Upload your script directly into the editor instead of copying and pasting.
Getting a project started in Studio is simple: add a file or paste a URL, then choose how you want it split into sections before you start voicing and rendering.
Importing a script
- Create or open a project in Studio.
- Click Import Script in the top-right corner.

Choose one of the following options:
- Add a file from your computer.
- For an online-hosted script, paste a URL. Some links may not work if there are permission restrictions.

Choose how to split it:
- For a section per paragraph, select Split by Paragraphs.
- For a section per sentence, select Split by Sentences.
- For one continuous script, skip splitting. This keeps your script in a single 5,000-character section.
Your script appears in the Studio Editor, split into sections however you chose. From here, each section works the same as any other — assign a voice, edit the text, and render your audio.
Supported file types
- File formats: .txt, .pdf, .docx
- File size: Less than 3MB
Preparing your script
Import reads all of the text in your file, so you'll get the cleanest results from a file that contains only the words you want voiced. Use the table below to find the best way to prepare your script.

To prepare a new file:
- Copy only the narration into a new .txt or .docx file.
- Put each section in its own paragraph.
- Remove heavy formatting, such as bold, italics, strikethrough, and emojis.
- Click on Import Script, add your file, and choose Split by Paragraphs.
Notes:
- Each section can hold up to 5,000 characters.
- Upload one file at a time. Zip files aren't supported.

Q: Can a zip file be used to upload multiple scripts simultaneously?
A: No, zip files aren't supported. Upload and render one script at a time.
Q: My file won’t upload - what’s wrong?
A: Confirm it's a .txt, .pdf, or .docx file, that it's less than 3MB, and that it isn't heavily formatted with bold, italic, strikethrough, emojis, or similar. Still stuck? Reach out to Support.
Q: I have a slide show presentation. Can I upload it to Studio?
A: Convert it to a .pdf first, then upload it as usual.
Q: Does the 5k character limit still apply?
A: Split it by paragraph or sentence on import so each section stays within the limit. See Inside Studio's 5000-Character Limit for more.
Q: Can I split text I've already typed or pasted into a section?
A: Studio splits a script into sections when you import it. To split text that's already in a section, copy it into a .txt, .pdf, or .docx file, click on Import Script, and choose Split by Paragraphs or Split by Sentences. Then delete the original section if you no longer need it. For a few short parts, you can also click on + New section and paste each part into its own section.
