Article overview
Make your voice-overs sound smoother and more natural — without manual edits.
The Smart Toolbar gives you two tools for polishing your script: Rewrite for Speech reformats things like numbers, dates, and URLs so text-to-speech pronounces them naturally, and Emphasis adds stress to key words. Both preserve your original meaning and tone
Before you get started
- Rewrite for Speech and Emphasis currently supports English voices only.
Rewriting for speech
- Highlight your text in the section to display the Smart Toolbar.
- Click on Rewrite for Speech to reformat the text. This commonly fixes:
- Numbers
- Dates
- Measurements and units
- Reference codes
- URLs
- Email addresses
- Review the suggested change, then click on Approve to apply it or Undo to discard it.
If your text is already optimized for speech, you'll see a notification instead of a suggested rewrite.
Adding emphasis
- Highlight a single word in the Studio editor to open the Smart Toolbar.
- Click on Emphasis to automatically add quotation marks around the word, cueing the voice to stress it.
Tip: The Emphasis button works on one word at a time, so avoid highlighting text with spaces or line breaks. To stress a longer phrase, type quotation marks around it directly in the editor.
FAQs
Q: Does Emphasis change pitch or just volume?
A: It adjusts vocal inflection and energy, not just volume. The exact effect varies by voice.
