Article overview
Starting June 1, 2026, you can migrate your legacy projects into WellSaid Studio. Learn how to identify projects that need migrating and complete the process in a few steps.
If you see a banner on one of your projects prompting you to convert, that project is a legacy project and needs to be migrated. Migration takes just a few steps and preserves your existing audio and script content.
Before you get started
- Who can migrate: Any team member with full project access can migrate a project. Project owners and workspace admins can migrate any project in the workspace.
- Migration is permanent: Once converted, the original legacy project is replaced by its WellSaid Studio version. This can't be undone.
- Read-only sections: Some clips may carry over as read-only sections. See A note on Standard (Previous) clips below.
What's changing and when
| Date | What happens |
|---|---|
| June 1, 2026 | Migration opens. A banner appears on all legacy projects. |
| June 30, 2026 | Creating new legacy projects is no longer available. |
| July 30, 2026 | Unmigrated legacy projects become view-only. |
| End of 2026 | WellSaid automatically migrates any remaining legacy projects. |
Migrate before July 30 to avoid any interruption to your workflow.
Do I need to migrate?
Go to your Personal or Team drive on the Projects page and check the model label on each project card. If any project shows one of the following labels, it needs to be migrated:
- Standard
- Caruso or Caruso (Legacy)
- A language name, such as Spanish or Chinese
Projects without one of these labels are already in WellSaid Studio — no action needed.
Tip: If you have a large library, sort by Oldest to Newest. Most legacy projects will appear at the top.
What you'll gain in WellSaid Studio
Migrating gives your project access to everything WellSaid Studio offers:
- More expressive voices with controls for tone, emotion, and delivery
- Global languages and translation capability
- All voices you've been using, including Standard and Caruso, remain available
What carries over
Here's what comes with you:
| What | Details |
|---|---|
| Clips | Preserved as Takes inside editable sections |
| Generated audio | All existing renders are preserved and available for playback and download |
| Replacements | Carried over — formatting may vary |
How to migrate a legacy project
- Go to the Projects page and open your Personal or Team drive.
- Click into a legacy project. You'll see a banner at the top prompting you to convert.
- Click Get started in the banner.
- Review the confirmation screen. It lists what will be preserved and what you'll gain.
- Click Convert now.
- Wait for the conversion to complete. You'll be taken into the project in WellSaid Studio automatically.
Your clips appear as editable sections with your existing audio intact.
If the conversion doesn't complete, refresh the page and try again. If the issue persists, contact WellSaid support.
A note on Standard (Previous) clips
Standard projects may contain clips generated with an older version of the Standard model. After migration, those clips carry over as read-only sections — clearly labeled in the project — and your script text remains fully accessible.
To re-render a read-only section with a newer model:
- Click the voice icon on the read-only section.
- Select a new voice or model.
- Click Render.
What happens if you don't migrate by July 30
If you don't migrate by July 30, your legacy projects become view-only. You can still open them and play back or download existing audio, but you won't be able to edit them or generate new audio.
Migration is still available after July 30 — just click Get started in the banner to convert at any time. WellSaid automatically migrates any remaining legacy projects at the end of 2026.
