Applying Respelling Suggestions

Improve your pronunciation with Respelling suggestions, providing accurate suggestions for industry-specific, uncommon, and complex words, among others. Respellings can be applied directly from your Studio project or from your Pronunciation Library.

Our Respelling feature is powered by Oxford Languages and is available in American and British English. To learn more, check out our blog.

From Studio

Our smart toolbar is the fastest way to find and use Respellings and Respelling suggestions.

For a one-time adjustment:

1. Highlight the word you wish to replace. The smart toolbar will appear.
2. Click the dropdown to view Respelling suggestions, divided into US or UK pronunciations.
3. Sample each pronunciation by clicking the Play button, then select your preferred Replacement.

Tip: If none of the suggested Respellings are quite right, try out the new Smart Suggestions for Respellings feature for even more options.

For the entire script:

1. Highlight the word you wish to replace. The smart toolbar will appear.
2. Click + New Replacement.
3. In the right sidebar, your original text will populate automatically in the field.
4. Add your Respelling to the Replacement field, choose a Respelling suggestion, or use Smart Suggestions to create a new one.
5. Click Save to Library.
6. Your new Respelling will be applied throughout your script.

From the Replacement Library

1. Head to the Library from the left-hand menu.
2. Click New Replacement on the top right.
3. In the right sidebar, enter the original text.
4. Find Respelling suggestions by clicking the book icon to the right of Replacement.
5. Click + ADD to select your preferred Replacement.
6. Click Save to Library. Your new Replacement is now ready to use!

Tip: The original text will appear in bold in your script. You can manage multiple Replacements for one word by highlighting it to open the smart Replacement toolbar.
