Article overview
Make your audio content more accessible by exporting a caption file right alongside your audio — no third-party tools required.
WellSaid Studio lets you download a caption file with your audio directly from the app. You can grab one per download, or turn on a global setting so every take includes one automatically.
Before you get started
- Captions are available for English voices, plus Spanish, German, and French — more languages are coming soon.
Choosing a caption format
- SRT (SubRip Subtitle) – works with most video players and editing tools.
- VTT (WebVTT) – built for web use, with support for extra styling and positioning.
Downloading captions for a section
- Select the section you want to download captions for.
- Click the download icon.
- Select a caption format: SRT, VTT, or TXT.
- Click on Download.
Your caption file downloads together with your audio in a single action.
Applying caption settings globally
- Navigate to Account Settings > Settings.
- Under Global download, toggle on a default audio format: .mp3, .wav, or .ogg.
- Toggle on Include caption file (SRT or VTT) and Include .txt file to automatically add those files to every download.
Once enabled, every downloaded take automatically includes your chosen audio format, caption file, and text file — you won't be prompted to choose each time.
Important: These settings apply across all takes and projects — there's no per-project override. To turn off captions for a single clip, disable the setting first.
