Set precise pauses between sections and preview your full project in one continuous playthrough.
How Pauses Work
In any multi-section project, a pause button appears between each section, showing the current pause duration – for example, 0.8s pause. This pause duration will create a silence that you can hear during continuous playback, and in your final combined audio file.
There are two levels of control:
- Project default — set once in Project Settings, applies to every pause unless overridden
- Section pause — set on any individual pause button, overrides the default for that break only
If you don't customize anything, Studio uses Natural (0.8 seconds) as the default. You only need to adjust where it matters.
Set Default Pause for Entire Project
Applies to every pause that hasn’t been individually customized.
- Open Project Settings via the three–dot menu [...] at the top of your project.
- Under Pause between sections, select a preset:
- Small (0.3s)
- Natural (0.8s)
- Long (1.2s)
- or enter a Custom value up to 10 seconds.
- Click Save.
The new default applies to all pause buttons that haven't been individually customized.
Change Pause Between Specific Sections
You can set a different pause on any individual break without changing the rest of the project.
- Click the pause button between the two sections you want to adjust. A dropdown opens showing the current pause setting.
- Select a preset:
- Small (0.3s)
- Natural (0.8s)
- Long (1.2s)
- or enter a Custom value up to 10 seconds.
- Click Apply.
That break now uses your custom value. All other pauses remain unchanged.
Reset a Pause
To remove a custom pause and return a pause break to the project's default:
- Click the pause button between the relevant sections.
- Select Reset to default from the bottom of the dropdown.
That break returns to the project default. Other custom pauses are not affected.
Play Your Project Continuously
Continuous playback plays all sections in order with your configured pauses — no need to play each section individually.
- Select Play: Continuous in the audio bar at the bottom of your project.
- To return to playing one section at a time, select Individual in the playback controls.
Pauses are also carried through to combined exports — what you hear in continuous playback is exactly what you get in the downloaded file.
FAQs
Q: Do I have to set a pause between every section?
A: No. Studio uses a natural default if you don't set anything. Only customize the breaks where you need a specific duration.
Q: Will changing a pause re-render my audio?
A: No. Pause adjustments are non-destructive and take effect instantly without triggering a re-render.
Q: Do custom pauses carry over to other projects?
A: No. Pause settings are saved per project and don't transfer to new projects.
Q: Will my pauses be included in a combined export?
A: Yes. Custom pauses are included in combined exports exactly as configured. What you hear in continuous playback matches what you get in the downloaded file.
Q: My continuous playback stopped mid-project. What happened?
A: Playback stops at any section that hasn't been generated yet. Check that all sections are generated, then try again.
Q: Can I adjust timing within a section, not just between sections?
A: Pause chips only control silence between sections. For timing within a section, use punctuation or Cues.
