Article overview
Describe your project in a few words and get a ranked list of voices that fit — no filtering required.
Audition, a new tab on the Voices page, turns a short description of your project into a curated list of voices worth trying. Describe the tone, audience, and use case, and it returns voices that fit — each with a short explanation of why it made the list.
Using Audition
- Navigate to Voices > Audition.
- Enter a brief describing your project or the voice you have in mind — brand, audience, tone, and use case all help.
- Optionally, enter text in the Sample text field (up to 150 characters). This is what each matched voice will read back to you.
- Click on Audition.
Audition returns 12 matches, each with a short explanation of why it made the cut.
Previewing a matched voice
- Click the Play button on any voice card to generate a preview.
- Listen to that voice read your Sample text or a generated sample if you left the field empty.
- To hear a different line, update the Sample text field and click Play again. This doesn't re-run Audition, so your matches stay the same.
Saving a voice from your results
Save any voice you like while you're still on the Audition tab:
- Click the heart icon on a voice card to add it to your Favorites for later.
- Click the bookmark icon on a voice card to add it to your Team Voices.
- Click on Use in a project on a voice card to start a new project with that voice already assigned.
FAQs
Q: Why did running the same brief twice give me different results?
A: Each Audition click generates a new match, so results can vary even with an identical brief. This is expected.
Q: What does it mean when a voice is locked?
A: The voice belongs to a plan tier higher than yours. You can see it in your results, but you'll need to upgrade to use it.
